Key milestone reached at Hinkley Point C

The firm hailed the accomplishment as a key milestone in the construction of the power plant which is located in North Somerset, England.

A rise in the number of workers testing positive for the coronavirus has forced infrastructure provider Balfour Beatty to close its state-of-the-art concrete segment plant at Bristol Port Dock in Avonmouth, England. The site, which will be closed until further notice, makes segments for EDF’s Hinkley Point C nuclear power project.

Veteran TBM holes through on Tideway connection tunnel

TBM Charlotte has completed her drive on an important connection tunnel that forms part of Thames Tideway, London’s 25km-long ‘super sewer’. Holing through on 2 July 2020 at Carnwarth Road, Fulham, southeast London, the 3m-diameter machine has been mining at average depths of around 30m on the Frogmore Connection Tunnel which has been excavated in two parts.

Great Britain – London’s new ‘super sewer’ half excavated. The TBMs boring the Thames Tideway project are 12.5km through the 25km-long, 7m-diameter project. As well as the main tunnel, a 1km-long, 3m-diameter connection tunnel is also currently under construction in Wandsworth at the western end of the project.
