Vinci wins Toronto storm sewer contract

French company Vinci Construction has announced that, via its microtunnelling subsidiary Bessac (Soletanche Bachy), and in consortium with Canada-based EBC, it has won a contract to build the Fairbank-Silverthorn Storm Trunk Sewer System for the city of Toronto, Canada.

Thames Tideway excavation halfway complete

Great Britain – London’s new ‘super sewer’ half excavated. The TBMs boring the Thames Tideway project are 12.5km through the 25km-long, 7m-diameter project. As well as the main tunnel, a 1km-long, 3m-diameter connection tunnel is also currently under construction in Wandsworth at the western end of the project.

New Zealand – The Auckland City Rail Link main design construction contract (C3) was awarded in July. The NZD 1.7bn (USD 1.12bn) tender was scooped by the Link Alliance, a joint venture of Vinci Construction Grands Projets, Downer NZm Soletanche Bachy, WSP Opus, Aecom and Tonkin & Taylor.

Great Britain – Bachy Soletanche has announced that it has consolidated its Westpile business under the Bachy Soletanche name as of 22 March “in order to simplify its operating structure and add efficiency”.
Sirius Minerals awards Lockwood Beck geotechnical contract

Great Britain – Sirius Minerals has awarded another geotechnical contract for the York Potash project. Bachy Soletanche won a GBP 4M contract for geotechnical work associated with the intermediate shaft at Lockwood Beck, which will provide access to the tunnel that will contain the Mineral Transport System.

Fehmarnbelt conditional contracts signed

GERMANY/DENMARK - Conditional contracts have now been signed with the consortia chosen to construct the Fehmarnbelt fixed link. Following the previous announcement, pen has been put to paper. A slight delay caused the contracts to be signed at the end of May rather than mid-May, and this was due to a complaint being received.

Client Femern said it had chosen a joint venture consisting of Vinci Construction Grands Projets, Per Aarsleff, Wayss & Freytag, Max Bögl, CFE, Bachy Solétance, BAM Infra, BAM International, Dredging International, and Cowi.
