UCA announces virtual conference to replace NAT

14 May 2020

With this year’s North American Tunnelling Conference (NAT 2020) cancelled over safety concerns related to the Coronavirus, US-based UCA of SME has announced a replacement online conference event for tunnelling professionals. ‘NATWeek: A Virtual Experience’ will take place from 8 June – 12 June 2020 and aims to share some of the NAT 2020 technical programme, connecting attendees with a virtual tradeshow.

Many of the scheduled speakers from NAT 2020 will speak at the online event, focusing on four tracks: technology, design, planning and case studies. Special highlights include panel discussions on forecasting tunnel demand and one by the Owner’s Forum.

Dave Kanagy, executive director of the Underground Construction Association (UCA), a division of SME, said: “We are excited to bring the speakers, topics and connections vital to the tunnelling community to professionals through NATWeek. Now more than ever, it’s crucial that professionals have access to professional development to help strengthen their careers and their organisations.”

The conference organisers have pledged to refund attendee fees in full. Exhibitors can either get full refunds or carry over their fee to next year’s RETC event (June 13-16 2021) in Las Vegas.

NATWeek will include:

  • Two hours of sessions daily, with a live Q&A panel rounding out each day
  • Virtual tradeshow
  • PDH credit
  • NAT eBook Proceedings
