Tunnelling MSc once again on stream at Warwick

20 January 2021

Having been paused in 2020 due to the pandemic, applications are now open for October 2021 entry to the University of Warwick MSc ‘Tunnelling and Underground Space’ programme.

The course is the only MSc supported by the British Tunnelling Society (BTS) and endorsed by the International Tunnelling Association.

Applicants who apply by April 2021 and who meet eligibility criteria may be in line for a bursary of up to £20,000 (US$27,000) from the BTS. Other funding opportunities are also available.

The industry-led programme offers graduates with backgrounds in civil engineering, engineering geology or mining engineering a direct route to a professional tunnelling career. Lecturers on the course are typically eminent speakers drawn from the industry who can disseminate current best practice. Modules are delivered in one-week blocks to allow full-time study over 12 months, or part-time study over two/three years. Students unable to commit to the full MSc can embark on courses at postgraduate diploma or certificate levels.

Also in 2021, the university will offer online CPD courses on safety in tunnelling, tunnel design, construction methods and numerical modelling.
