Salini Impregilo/Healy is Dugway Tunnel’s lowest bidder

USA - The Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District (NEORSD) opened bids for its Dugway Storage Tunnel (DST) on September 10, with a JV of Salini Inpregilo/Healy.

DST is a combined sewer overflow deep tunnel project in Cleveland that will provide additional storage of combined sewer flows during wet weather events reducing the number of combined sewer discharges into the environment.

DST is part of the Euclid Creek/Dugway Storage Tunnel System, and will connect to the Euclid Creek Storage Tunnel (ECT). Construction of the ECT commenced in 2011 and is scheduled for completion in 2015. When completed, the a 24ft-diameter ECT/DST will have a shared storage volume of 117 million gallons, controlling CSO from outfalls in the Easterly CSO basin that currently overflow into Euclid Creek, the Dugway Brook, the Nine Mile Creek, the Shaw Brook and Lake Erie.

The ECT is approximately 18,000 feet long at a depth in excess of 200 feet. The DST provide another 15,000 feet of tunnel storage at similar depths.
