19 March 2019

Italy – The ITA Committee for Education and Training (ITACET) has released details on the two training courses it will hold at the World Tunnel Congress (WTC) in Naples this year.

Registration is currently open. Interested parties should visit: www.wtc2019.com/conference/itacet-training-course

The first course (3-4 May 2019) is "Tunnelling 4.0 and IT technologies for the design, construction and maintenance of underground works". It will focus on the latest technological innovations in the different phases of design, construction and maintenance of underground works. The speakers will discuss BIM methodology across all of these phases, as well as automation of the construction process and the use of virtual reality and augmented as an aid to optimise the construction of tunnels.

The second course (4 May 2019) is "Tunnels design construction and operation communication and stakeholder engagement". Although it is less technical, ITACET stated that it considers this course of extreme interest, due to the growing needs to effectively communicate the importance of underground works and the role it plays in improvements to quality of life, as well as interacting with various stakeholders.
