Ferrovial named 'most sustainable company'
7 August 2020Ferrovial, the Spain-based infrastructure services provider, has been named the ‘most sustainable company in the infrastructure sector of 2020’ by World Finance Magazine.
The accolade is part of the World Finance Sustainability Awards 2020 which aim to recognise companies that understand and control the impact their products and services have on the planet.
As part of its climate strategy, Ferrovial said it has measured 100% of greenhouse gas emissions from its activities globally, while in 2019, its emissions were 59% lower than in 2009.
The Dow Jones Sustainability Index 2019 named Ferrovial ‘the most sustainable company’ globally in the construction and engineering sectors.
Ferrovial is active in the UK through subsidiaries Ferrovial Agroman, and Amey in providing and maintaining civil and industrial infrastructure.
Recent tunnelling activities include forming part of joint ventures such as the RiverLinx consortium working on London’s proposed Silvertown tunnel; and the Ferrovial Agroman Laing O’Rourke joint venture working on the central section of the Thames Tideway Tunnel.
The company was recently awarded a €288m contract to expand the metro in Porto, Portugal.
