Eurotunnel has bumper summer

GREAT BRITAIN/FRANCE - Record-breaking August traffic has resulted in strong Q3 revenues for Eurotunnel. The Channel Tunnel operator reported group revenues of EUR 343.9M (USD 435.13) for the period July to September, up seven per cent on 2013.

The company carried a record 375,000 vehicles on shuttle trains through the tunnel in August, breaking the daily record three times during the month. The new daily record is 16,416, with the week of August 11-17 seeing an all-time seven-day high of 85,400 vehicles.

Eurotunnel also enjoyed a record-breaking 2013, with 10 million passengers, sales exceeding EUR 1bn (USD 1.26bn), and profits of EUR 101M (USD 128M). This was a threefold increase on the 2012 profits of EUR 32M (USD 40.5M).
