Elon Musk wants to bid on Chicago airport rail link

4 December 2017

USA - Elon Musk used Twitter to announce November 30 "The Boring Company will compete to fund, build & operate a high-speed Loop connecting Chicago O’Hare Airport to downtown."

The tweet follows Chicago mayor Rahm Emanuel and his administration issuing RFQs for teams that could design, build, finance, operate and maintain a high-speed rail link to the city's O'Hare airport. The city has made promises to develop an option that is cheaper than taxi or Uber journeys and 20 minutes in travel time, half the current time.

Three potential routes have been identified for the line, with both surface level and underground alignments under consideration.
