CH2M Hill bags HS2 development partnership

31 January 2012

CH2M Hill is the development partner for the next phase of UK high-speed rail line, High Speed Two (HS2). HS2 made the announcement last week and added that a team of about 80 people would be created to fulfill the GBP 70M (USD 110.1M) contract.

A HS2 spokesman said, “They will project manage the professional services companies who will carry out the design, environmental and land referencing work for the London to West Midlands line. CH2M Hill’s expertise will ensure that the work is fully integrated and delivered on budget, on time and to the required quality.”

Chief executive of HS2, Alison Munro said, “Now that HS2 is up and running, it’s time to bring new people on board and I’m very pleased to welcome CH2M Hill as our development partner for the next phase of this exciting project.

“They will bring, in particular, their highly regarded experience of working on HS1 and Crossrail, two major UK infrastructure projects that have direct relevance to our work.”

The appointment will be confirmed after a 10-day standstill period required by EU procurement regulations, which allows unsuccessful bidders to challenge the decision.

HS2 announced that professional services contracts will be awarded in February.
