Calgary calls for trenchless project contractors

The city is qualifying respondents for two separate schedules for the installation of large diameter sewers by trenchless and open trench methods. Approved trenchless installation methods will be limited to use of Micro Tunnel Boring Machines with pipe jacking as further defined herein.

Schedule 1: General Contractor for the Inglewood Sanitary Trunk is an open call for responses from parties to act as the General Contractor for the Inglewood Sanitary Trunk. To be eligible for award on the Inglewood Sanitary Trunk project, the General Contractors will, in addition but separate to this qualification process, be required to maintain or obtain prequalification under at least one (1) of the following separate City of Calgary prequalification program:
a) Prequalification for Prime Contractor for Construction Projects (Current RFPQ # 17-020) category Water Feeder Mains, Sanitary Sewer Trunks, Stormwater Sewer Trunks; OR
b) Prequalification for Prime Contractor for Construction Projects (Current RFPQ # 17-020) category Trenchless Installation, Replacement &Rehabilitation of Watermains, Sanitary Sewers and Storm Sewers to include any of the following disciplines: Auger Boring; Horizontal Direction Drilling (HDD); Tunnelling (TBM, Microtunnelling, Hand Tunnelling et al); Cured-in-Place (CIP) Lining; Swage and Slip Lining; and Pipe Bursting, Ramming and Jacking; OR
c) RFPQ no: 14-005 dated April 21, 2014.

Schedule 2: Microtunnelling Contractor for the Inglewood Sanitary Trunk is an open call for responses from parties to act as a subcontractor in execution of trenchless construction work who meet the commercial and technical requirements outlined in this RFSQ.

Receipt of this opportunity is not to be construed as a waiver of the City of Calgary’s requirements for prequalification.
