National Grid awards LPT2 tunnels contract

Great Britain – National Grid has signed a GBP 400M contract with Hochtief-Murphy JV to deliver the tunnels and shafts for the London Power Tunnels (LPT2) project. The overall scheme will cost GBP 1bn (USD 1.3bn) and take six years to complete. This is the second phase of the LPT project.

The Victorian Tunnelling Training Centre is under construction

Australia - The construction of the Victorian Tunnelling Training Centre (VTC) is set to start in Melbourne. The VTC will be located at Holmesglen Institute’s Drummond Street campus in Chadstone and will take the first students during Semester 1 over the next year.

BTS announces Northumbria University meeting

The event will feature a talk on the topic: ‘Tunnelling Under 21st Century Building Structures: Bond Street Station Upgrade and the infamous case of Avon House’. Speakers will be Andy Clarke (for Costain Laing O’Rourke), Richard Totty (for Bachy) and Paul Perry (formerly of Halcrow Atkins JV.

HS2 signs Euston construction partner contract
