A 10.58m diameter TBM has begun excavation on Line Five - Lilac of the Sao Paulo Metro, local government sources announced last month. The Herrenknecht machine had previously been employed on the city’s Line Four – Yellow where it operated with a cutting diameter of 9.41m.

LPT machine relocating

The 9km Eade Road to St. John’s Wood London Power Tunnels (LPT) drive was completed on 1 May. The 4.7m Herrenknecht EPBM emerged into the St. John’s Wood shaft before a complex operation was due to see it manoeuvered to its next LPT bore on the project in Haringey. The operation was ongoing as Tunnels went to press, and due to complete on 11 June.

TGV Paris-Strasbourg project still ahead of schedule

On February 25 2013, months ahead of schedule, TBM Charlotte completed excavation for the two tubes of the Tunnel de Savern, Herrenknecht stated earlier this month. During the tunnelling of the second tube, the site teams achieved a record performance of 1,014m in 30 days.

Two TBMs commissioned for Singapore metro

Two Herrenknecht EPB machines for Singapore's s Downtown Line Stage Three (DTL3) – Contract 935 have been commissioned in the factory in China in January and March and await delivery to site mid-year. The Singapore Land Transport Authority (LTA) has engaged John Holland in JV with Leighton Asia for the construction and completion of the Jalan Besar Station and associated tunnels for DTL3 –C935, John Holland announced last week.
