In its first five years' expansion plan to improve the potable water supply, Aguas Argentinas committed itself to spending $540m. As part of this plan, a 15.3km water supply tunnel has been built with a loan from the Inter American Development Bank. The new tunnel extends the existing tunnel network from the Saavedra connection structure to Moron. Future expansion is planned to take place in the 30 year long concession period. North-south in Berlin

Changes to design and the near catastrophic flooding of a main tunnel caisson have resulted in the construction of central Berlin's missing transport route - the north-south rail link - slip from its original planned completion of 2002 to latest estimates of 2005. However, with the start of the final set of TBM tunnel drives, Lot 3 construction supervisor Lahmeyer International believes the project is now on the home stretch.
