HONG KONG - The 2.35km northbound tunnel between Mai Po and Ngau Tam Mei in the Hong Kong section of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link project (XRL) was completed with the successful breakthrough of the TBM last month. Penta-Ocean Construction was awarded the contract four years ago.

GREAT BRITAIN - Transport chiefs are planning GBP 9M (USD 14.3M) of works on one of the Mersey tunnels in a bid to make sure it is not plunged into darkness if there is a major crash or fire, local press reported recently. The planned project, currently awaiting approval, will see all 1,800 lights inside the Kingsway tunnel to Wallasey replaced.
