York Potash announces preferred contractors

Great Britain – Sirius Minerals has revealed that the Hochtief Murphy joint venture is favoured to construct the mineral transport system at its North Yorkshire polyhalite project. This is the highlight of the York Potash job for the tunnelling industry and consists of a 23-mile (37km), 4.1m-diameter tunnel to transport ore from the mine site to the nearby port.

Fehmarnbelt conditional contracts signed

GERMANY/DENMARK - Conditional contracts have now been signed with the consortia chosen to construct the Fehmarnbelt fixed link. Following the previous announcement, pen has been put to paper. A slight delay caused the contracts to be signed at the end of May rather than mid-May, and this was due to a complaint being received.

Implenia, HOCHTIEF and Thyssen JV to build Gloggnitz Tunnel

ÖBB-Infrastruktur AG has jointly awarded Hochtief Infrastructure Austria, Implenia Austria and Thyssen Schachtbau the contract to build the Gloggnitz Tunnel, Hochtief announced on Friday, June 12. The total contract volume for the "SBT 1.1 Tunnel Gloggnitz" joint venture (JV) is some EUR 457M (USD 511M). Hochtief’s share is worth around EUR 183M (USD 204.6M), representing a 40 per cent stake in the JV.

CBE announces Rastatt mould supply contract

GERMANY – CBE announced its participation in the Rastatt Tunnel project that will form part of the high speed railway line between Karlsruhe and Basel. Some 42 segment moulds will be delivered to the German precast supplier Max Bögl, which is in charge of the production of approximately 15000 concrete segments for the tunnel with a total length of 4.27 km crossing beneath Rastatt from east to south.

GERMANY - BIS Bremerhavener has commissioned a joint venture of Ed. Züblin AG (technical leader/JV share 37 per cent), HOCHTIEF Solutions AG (commercial leader/JV share 33 per cent) and Züblin Spezialtiefbau GmbH (JV share 30 per cent), to build the Cherbourger Straße harbour tunnel in Bremerhaven, Germany, the companies announced on September 11.

GERMANY/SWITZERLAND - A joint venture led by Züblin and Hochtief was commissioned by DB Netz AG to deliver the shell construction of the "Rastatt Tunnel". The tunnel project is part of planning approval section 1.2 of the new railway route between Karlsruhe and Basel. The contract volume amounts to approximately EUR 312M (USD 417.6M).
