Laos – The headrace tunnel has been completely mined on the Xe-Pian Xe-Namnoy Hydroelectric Project in southern Laos. The feat is three months ahead of schedule and was accomplished by Seli Overseas using a Terratec TBM.

LAOS – The TBM boring the Xe-Pian Xe-Namnoy project passed the halfway point in early July. The TBM, a 5.74m-diameter double shield, was manufactured by Terratec and launched from an 500m-long adit constructed by drill and blast in summer 2015.

Vishnugad-Pipalkoti TBM acceptance

INDIA -Factory acceptance for the TBM bound for the 444MW Vishnugad-Pipalkoti hydropower project took place last week. The 9.86m-diameter Terratec hard rock double shield TBM will excavate the 13km of tunnels for the project, which is located in the estate of Uttarakhand, around 500km northeast of Delhi.

Both TBMs boring the Line Five tunnel of the Milan Metro have successfully broken through at Cenisio station, SELI announced earlier this month. TBM S-388 broke through at Cenisio station in January while TBM S-238 broke through at Cenisio station last month.

Kishanganga project makes record progress

The Kishanganga project in the Himalayas has achieved a new excavation record in India last month. Seli recently announced that it excavated 815m with its TBM DSU designed for the challenging geological and environmental conditions of the work site in November.
