Worker injured in London tunnel

A construction worker has suffered head and shoulder injuries at a National Grid site in north London yesterday morning, local news reports revealed today. The 24-year-old man was taken to hospital from the site near Haringey where National Grid are tunnelling as part of the London Power Tunnels project.

London Ambulance were called to the scene at just after 6am this morning. A spokesman for National Grid said the man has received medical attention and his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Tunnelling work has been temporarily suspended. The Health and Safety Executive have been informed of the accident, and are investigating.
