US elects Donald Trump president

10 November 2016

Businessman Donald Trump secured more than 270 electoral college votes to become the 45th president of the United States on November 8.

In his acceptance speech Wednesday morning he called for infrastructure development. “We are going to fix our inner cities and rebuild our highways, bridges, tunnels, airports, schools, hospitals. We're going to rebuild our infrastructure, which will become, by the way, second to none, and we will put millions of our people to work as we rebuild it.”

Trump’s campaign cited numbers from the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), which said the nation has a 10-year funding gap of approximately USD 1tr. While campaigning Trump said his infrastructure plan aims to achieve a target of investment to fill this gap.
