This month will see three deals signed on Taiwan’s US$12bn, 345km long high- speed rail network. Japan’s Obayashi and local firm Fu Tsu Construction Co has been chosen for contracts C210 and C215. C210 involves the construction of two long mountain tunnels in Taoyuan County, close to Taipei. Contract C215 calls for construction of Taoyuan Station and a section of tunnel. Contract C280, won by a JV of Samsung, Hanjung and Taiwanese contractor International Engineering & Construction Corporation, involves construction of Chiayi Station in Chiayi County, north of Kaohsiung.
