Sumatra tunnel under consideration

27 January 2006

Japanese engineering firm Nippon Koei and Australian consultant SRK Consulting are mulling plans to build a 70km long US$400M railway, mostly in tunnel, from Musi Rawas in South Sumatra, to the west coast of Sumatra West Coast. The rail line would transport coal from Musi Rawas to the coast where it would be shipped to international markets.
