Larsen & Toubro, in a joint venture with four other companies, has secured the Rs16.50bn (S353M) contract to build the Delhi underground corridor for Delhi Metro Rail Corporation. Other members of the joint venture are Dyckerhoff & Widmann AG (Germany), Samsung Corporation (Korea), Shimizu Corporation (Japan), and IRCON International Ltd (India).

The project comprises a turnkey design and construct contract for the 7km underground corridor between ISBT station and Central Secretariat in New Delhi.

The total duration of the contract is 59 months and is being funded by the Japan Bank for International Cooperation. Forty per cent of the contract payment is to be made in US dollars and 60 per cent in rupees, the release said.
