US manufacturer Lovat has joined forces with German company mts GmbH microtunnelling systems to form a new company, Lovat mts. Located in Valluhn, Germany, Lovat mts GmbH specialises in the development, manufacturing and servicing of microtunnelling systems.
mts GmbH was founded in July 2000. In December of that year a participation contract with Lovat was signed after it was felt that the two company’s services complemented each other. Lovat mts GmbH serves as an extension of Lovat Inc supplying many of Lovat’s products and services, including TBM spare parts, project support, technical service field specialists, and offers after sales support of Lovat TBMs sold in Europe. Lovat TBMs of up to 4m diameter will be refurbishable and open to modification at the German factory.
A spokesman for Lovat mts told T&TI: “Lovat’s world-wide distribution and service net and its experience were some of the reasons why mts now co-operates with Lovat Inc. On the other hand, Lovat Inc can now offer a better service in Europe through Lovat mts and expand into microtunnelling.”
