Hatch opens new California offices

8 December 2016

US—Hatch has announced the opening of two new offices to boost its presence in the United States. Earlier this year, a full service Urban Solutions office was opened in Oakland California, and more recently in Los Angeles, a new Global Centre of Excellence for infrastructure. Both offices will focus on the efficient delivery of strong-performing infrastructure, in water, transit, and energy.

“While our presence in the United States is well established in other sectors, we now have on-the-ground capabilities that leverage our engineering, technology, and project delivery expertise in the areas of urban planning, tunnels, ports and marines, road and rail, and importantly, water management” explained Martin Doble, Global Managing Director, Infrastructure. “We are better positioned to partner with our clients – both new and existing, public and private – in a way that meets not only their expectations, but also, the development needs of the cities in which we live, work, and visit.”

At the same time, Hatch announced two key appointments to the Los Angeles office with the arrival of Tom West, Regional Director, Water, and Reece Shaw, Director, Ports & Marines. West and Shaw are the most recent additions to Hatch’s expansion into the United States this year as the company looks to strengthen its globally-connected infrastructure business.

“West is a proven leader with a range of experience in engineering, water, and wastewater management. He understands and brings with him both strategic and execution excellence, an impressive record in project management, technological savvy, and ultimately, a strong reputation for delivering results to clients and the cities he’s a part of.” A Civil Engineer with postgraduate education in environmental engineering and business management, West, was formerly Vice President, Water Resources and responsible for new market sector development in the water space, at a large engineering firm. Most recently, West lead the historic water planning effort “One Water LA 2040” where he set out the framework, vision, and implementation strategy required to meet the region’s near and long-term water supply challenges.

Shaw, also a Civil Engineer, has an MBA in business management and joins Hatch from a large construction management firm, having been a leader in Ports & Marine Development and on several key international infrastructure projects. As a published and patented professional, his expertise bridges the technical and value-driven sides to infrastructure projects and programs.

“Shaw is an incredibly experienced leader in the ports and marine space. His work has spanned the globe, related to everything from port and marine development projects to port security vulnerability assessments, as well as multi-site projects in foreign countries. He’s combining program management know-how with industry-leading technical expertise to support our clients as they seek to define and setout smart infrastructure goals,” explained Doble.
“I am very excited about our offices in California, and of the key appointment that we are announcing today,” said Doble. “This is another very positive marker in the company’s recent growth in the United States and of our ambition for the future.”
