Two adits were constructed of 268m and 450m, and provided the only access and egress. Another adit was begun, but abandoned due to unfavourable ground conditions.
Heading work was completed on schedule after 24 months at a cost of USD 27.1M. A second headrace for Punatsangchu 2 has also begun, with a length of 8.6km.
