Bids invited for Agra Line 1 metro tunnelling

As part of an open e-tender, Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corp is inviting bids from international parties for the design and construction of a tunnel, seven underground stations and ramps for the Line 1 metro in Agra, India. The tender value is approximately US$300m.

Tender AGCC-02 comprises the design and construction of a 7.93km TBM-bored tunnel, sections of cut and cover, underground ramp, elevated ramp, and seven underground stations at Taj Mahal, Agra Fort, Jama Masjid, SN Medical College, Agra College, Raja ki Mandi and RBS College.

The contractor is expected to complete the works in 48 months and use several tunnel boring machines for the excavation.

Agra’s metro will have two lines passing through the city centre and will link globally-famous tourist attractions such as the Taj Mahal and Agra Fort. The seven underground stations to be constructed as part of tender AGCC-02 will lie on the 14km-long Line 1 stretching from Sikandra to Taj East Gate. It will have a total of 13 stations, six of which will be elevated.
