Alstom will add a further 293MW to India’s hydropower capacity a spokesman announced last week. Alstom was awarded three contracts, each worth over INR 2.7bn (USD 60.72M). Alstom also won the INR 18.4bn (USD 413.6M), 1000MW Tehri Pumped Storage Project in JV with Hindustan Construction Company (HCC) last month.

The 97MW Tashiding project in west Sikkim was signed with client Shiga Energy; the 100MW Tidong 1 project in Kinnaur, Himachal Pradesh was signed with NSL Tidong Power Generation and the 96MW Dikchu plant in east Sikkim was signed with Haridwar Infrastructure.

A spokesman for HCC told T&T that the large height variation of 90m between the maximum and minimum head, combined with 5km of tunnel works made the project an exciting prospect. The complex will be built in Tehri, Uttarakhand, India to house four 250MW reversible pump turbines for a total generating capacity of 1000MW.
