Over five million passengers have now used the Lewisham Link of London’s Docklands Light Railway under the River Thames. Following the successful completion of tunnelling, the new line was opened in November last year. The operator, DLR, has a target of 10 million passengers in the first of year operation. Another sub-Thames link from North Woolwich and London City Airport to Woolwich Arsenal is possible by 2006.
